The new season of Apex Legends is upon us and as usual, a few days before the debut, EA and Respawn Entertainment have unveiled what will be the news of the season 14code name Hunted, which will debut next August 9. Among the news we have Vantage, new legend that will join the now rich roster of the game, changes to King’s Canyon, weapons and even the level cap: let’s see what all the changes are.
Apex Legends has its first sniper
Let’s start with the new character, Xiorama “Mara” Contreras, known as Vantage within the Apex Games. Grew up like huntress from her mother, Vantage joined in the games to try to free her from captivity, which her daughter deemed unfair. Vantage companions are an old man sniper rifle found in the prison ship carrying the mother (ship from which the legend has “inherited” the name) and Echoa small bat; these two elements are fundamental, given that outline the characteristics and abilities of Vantage within Apex Legends.
The new legend is indeed a sniper with good mobility, to be exploited to take a position and hit your targets from the most disparate angles. The passive ability Detector Lens allows you to retrieve information about enemies while keeping them at gunpoint, such as the composition of the enemy team, the level of the shield equipped and the distance to your team. Vantage can also scan for beacons that identify the closing of the ring and, if it is using a sniper rifle, can see exactly where the shot will land.
The tactical skill Flight of Echo allows her to move the companion e quickly reposition, in order to have a good angle of fire on the enemies or to shelter from an ambush. The strength of the skill is the fact that Echo cannot be shot down, offering Vantage the ability to reposition itself at any time. Supreme skill of the new legend is finally Mark of the Sniper: Vantage shoots with his sniper (has 5 shots, which recharge over time) e marks enemies hit, making them visible (as long as they are in the open field) e increasing the damage dealt by companions.
The new face of King’s Canyon
King’s Canyon, or “Third-Party Land” as called by many players due to its small size, also sees several changes. The most interesting is the introduction of Relic, new point of interest in the area formerly occupied by Skull Town and was destroyed some time ago, followed by the redesign of Cage, which now has a completely open structure and without covers which makes it less dominant, exposing the teams on all sides.
The other changes see theaddition of buildings in the Fallen Shore, a rebalancing of the loot in all places on the map and the attempt to make rotations more predictable in the central stages of the games, eliminating several shortcuts that favored the escape from skirmishes. We’ll see if this helps give variety to the game.
A breath of fresh air to gameplay
The gameplay news is not just about weapons, but also the golden equipment. One of the most important news is farewell to self-revive, previously present on the auxiliary shield, replaced with the ability Guardian Angel in turn so far present in the backpack: starting from season 14, the legendary auxiliary shield will allow you to revive your companions with life and bonus shields, while it legendary backpack will allow to carry one more unit of great carefor a total of 3 for slots for batteries and medkits and 2 for phoenix kits.
Among the main innovations relating to weapons we find changes for Wingman and Spitfire, which they will use respectively accessories e sniper and light ammunition, rather than heavy. From the drop G7 Scout and Volt will be released, which can be found on the ground, to make room for Bocek and Rampage, which will go alongside the Kraber. Among the short-range options we will see a return of the double-tap for the EVA 8 and the introduction of a new accessory for guns and SMGs, the laser sight, which will help greatly reduce the spread of the shots when shooting without aiming.
More levels = more free packs
With season 14 Respawn will introduce in Apex Legends too three new tiers from level 1 to level 500, bringing the level cap to 2000. The change is particularly welcome as, exactly as it happened before when gaining experience from level 1 to level 500, once you reach a certain level you get a free pack. The three new tiers allow players to earn a large number of packs and the full climb allows for get over 500 packagesallowing everyone to get at least one heirloom.
