Speaking to analysts after posting a record June quarter, Cook said that developed and emerging markets recorded record revenue this quarter with “double-digit growth in Brazil, Indonesia and Vietnam and a new doubling of revenue in India”. to be done.”
Cook said the company “continues to perform in certain key geographies with low iPhone penetration between Indonesia, Vietnam and India where we did very well”.
“The iPhone becomes the engine for those markets, especially for Apple products early in the build-up to the market there,” he said.
Continuing its growth in India driven by local manufacturing, Apple sold over 1.2 million iPhones in the country in the second quarter (Q2) this year, registering a whopping 94 percent growth (Y-o-Y).
According to data shared by market intelligence firm CyberMedia Research (CMR), the growth was driven by stellar sales of the iPhone 12 and 13 models.
Of the total shipped iPhones, around 1 million were ‘Make in India’ devices.
Speaking about Apple’s services business, the company’s CFO Luca Maestri noted that “we set June quarter revenue records in both developed and emerging markets and all-time records in several countries, including India.”
Maestri also highlighted how enterprise customers are “increasingly investing in Apple products as a strategy to attract and retain talent”.
“Wipro, another large mobile enterprise customer, is investing in the MacBook Air with the M1 as a competitive advantage when recruiting new graduates globally – thanks to its superior performance and lower total cost of ownership. Thank you,” he said.
With the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro with the new M2 chip, “we expect more customers to make Macs available to their entire workforce,” he said.
In India, Apple iPads registered an impressive growth of 34 per cent in India (on-ear) and the company sold over 0.2 million devices in the country, according to CMR.
