In recent times, the Meet merger widely debuted in Google Duo for Android and iOS. Google is now set to launch the next phase where the Meet icon and name will be replaced by the Duo’s mobile app update.
Update 8/5: Version 172 of “Google Duo” introduces Meet branding on Android. Duo’s blue icon remains on until you open the app at the “Duo has been upgraded to Meet” prompt and press “Continue.”

The launcher icon will then change to a four-color Meet video camera on a white background as the app alphabetically drops into “Meet” order.
This update is yet to be rolled out widely, while the Play Store listing currently lacks this new branding. We are yet to see any new releases on the iPhone and iPad.
original 8/3: Going Google Duo icon (since 2016) with white video camera inside a blue, teardrop-shaped container. It will be replaced with a boxy, four-color camera, while the name will move from “Duo” to “Meat”.
A notification will further explain the change, which will give users access to “both video calling and meeting capabilities.” The latter requires you to sign-in with a Google account (not just a phone number).
Video calling capabilities are still available for free in the updated Duo app on mobile devices. Conversation history, contacts and messages are retained.
These Duo-to-Meet icon updates are rolling out on Android and iOS starting today and will be complete by September, along with changes to Google Play and App Store listings. This comes as the original Google Meet app has been updated to “Meet (native)” with a green icon in recent days. This legacy client will eventually be gone, although the functionality will remain in the Gmail tab.
Users can continue to use Meet (native) to join and schedule meetings throughout this process, but we’ve updated the Google Meet app to have combined video meeting and calling features in one place. recommend to use.
At the same time, the Google Meet branding is coming on duo.google.com, but there is no change in calling capability or functionality yet. In the next few months, the web app will redirect to meet.google.com/calling.
