WWDC 2022 brought us a lot of surprises in each of the updates to Apple’s operating systems. Of course, how could it be otherwise, iOS 16 was the star of the gala, but certain functions bathed in great spectacularity such as Stage Manager or “Visual Organizer” also stood out due to their translation into Spanish in macOS Ventura.
This new window management system will be revolutionary and will allow Mac users to access the applications they have open and are working with faster and more conveniently.
Next we will explain in detail how to use Stage Manager in macOS Ventura on any Mac computer. Discover all the new features that the company with the bitten apple logo has implemented in this curious app management system.

Stage Manager, the new App Switcher for macOS Ventura
Craig Federighi presenting Stage Manager
We will begin by briefly explaining how this novelty of Apple’s macOS 13 Ventura update works. Stage Ventura is an application management system that allows you to organize windows very easily.
In the event that a user has multiple windows open, they can activate Stage Manager in macOS Ventura to check which apps are open, what is the content of each of them by a thumbnail preview and in what order they have been used. In addition, Stage Manager also allows you to switch between apps faster and in a more attractive way.
After activating Visual Organizer, it offers a view with multiple thumbnail windows on the left side of the screen –although this is something that can be customized to suit each user– and a larger window in the center for the application that we are viewing or using.
But Stage Manager is much more than an “App Switcher”, in reference to the iconic application management system present in other operating systems such as iOS or iPadOS, and this novelty of macOS Ventura allows create application pools that remain attached in each of the Stage Manager windows. And there are still many more curiosities!

How to configure and customize Stage Manager in macOS Ventura
A new feature arrives, Stage Manager allows you to group, browse and use only the apps you want
The activation of Stage Manager is very handy in macOS Ventura, it can be activated and deactivated directly from the Control center (in the upper right corner of the screen) but can also be activated, configured and customized from the app Settings.
By the way, one thing to keep in mind, Apple has completely redesigned the user interface of the Settings app. But don’t worry, it’s still very intuitive and easy to use. In fact, with the new Settings design, it organizes all the configurable elements of the system much better and brings its appearance closer to that of the iOS and iPadOS versions, as well as brings the iPad user experience closer to that of Mac.
This is what you need to do to access the Stage Manager settings:
1. Open Settings.
two. Go to the Desktop and Dock section.
3. Scroll down until you find the Visual Organizer section (Stage Manager).
From here, in addition to turning this powerful new feature of macOS Ventura on and off, you can also customize how it looks and works. There are two options that users can enable and combine. One of them makes the thumbnail previews always visible on the left side – which can be very annoying – and the other option shows the elements present on the Desktop.
Logically, Apple has introduced these customization options so that users can adapt it to their liking and so that those who do not want to use Stage Manager can continue using the usual application management system.

How to use Stage Manager with macOS Ventura
Once the feature is enabled, you’ll find the main app in the center area of the screen and apps you’ve recently opened in a small strip-shaped sidebar on the left of the screen. With Stage Manager they can appear a maximum of 6 applications On the side. By hovering over each preview we can make it become the central app.
It is worth mentioning that when an application is used in full screen, the side menu of open apps disappears and will only be accessible when you minimize the app in full screen or return to the Desktop.
The preview of the Visual Organizer applications appear according to the size in which you have used them. Furthermore, as we mentioned previously, it is possible group applications in the same window for them to appear in Stage Manager. If, for example, we group iMovie, Pages and Safari, their windows and their icons will appear in the Stage Manager preview. Something quite useful.
To group windows in Visual Organizer with macOS Ventura, simply press and hold an app and drag it onto the Stage Manager preview where you want it to be. As easy as that!
Devices supported by Stage Manager
Unfortunately, this powerful feature of iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura requires at least the use of the M1 chip or later. Therefore, Apple’s Visual Organizer will not be compatible with models from generations prior to the M1 chip. A move that is part of Apple’s aggressive marketing strategy.
These are the devices supported by Stage Manager:
- Macs compatible with macOS 13 Ventura
- iPad Pro 2021 and iPad Air 2022
This is all you need to know about what’s new in the system Stage Manager or Visual Organizer of macOS Ventura. Without a doubt, this is a great change that will allow us to accommodate our use of applications on Mac computers. But there will always be some controversy surrounding this function, since there are users who are not quite convinced. What do you think about Stage Manager?
