BGMI is done banned In India, making it the latest addition to the list of Restricted Mobile Games in India. The popular battle royale game suddenly disappeared from the Google Play Store on July 28 and rumors of a ban began to rise.
iOS users also soon reported the game’s removal from the Apple App Store.
Reportedly, the Indian government banned the country-specific PUBG Mobile version based on allegations of it collecting and sharing sensitive data on its servers in China. The Indian government has implemented the ban under section 69(a) of the IT Act, incidentally behind the prohibition of Free Fire.

It has already been mentioned that the Indian PUBG Mobile version has been banned due to security reasons. However, the suspension deadline on Battlegrounds Mobile India starts from March 2022, when an NGO named Prahaar wrote a letter to the Indian government asking for a ban on the Crafton-backed BR game.
However, the government did not take immediate action, and by 28 July everything seemed smooth for the BGMI. The title was removed from the Application Store (Android and iOS/iPadOS) at the behest of the Government of India.
The following response from Google cleared the air around the ban rumours:
“Upon receipt of the order, following the established procedure, we have notified the affected developer and blocked access to the app available on the Play Store in India.”

However, Crafton’s official statement on the matter indicates uncertainty about the state and future of the game in India. Here’s how to remove the game from India-specific app stores:
“We’re clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play and the App Store and we’ll let you know once we have specifics.”
Despite the ban, Battlegrounds Mobile India is working in India and users can play the game they want. However, in-game purchases have been restricted, and they cannot buy or spend UC.

Unverified news was doing the rounds online about a possible meeting between Crafton and Indian government representatives. However, no report was published regarding a meeting on 29 July.
Considering the case of PUBG Mobile, Free Fire and many other banned applications, the ban on BGMI is unlikely to be lifted anytime soon. The ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India could be the end of the line for the game, as the chances of a repeal are bleak.
Hence, BGMI gamers can start looking for alternatives to their favorite games and explore the best alternatives in the Play Store/App Store. Here are some tips that ex-Battleground Mobile India users can try:
- New State Mobile
