Beyond the conferences of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, some events like Gamescom 2022 are obviously not free. There is a great deal of logistics behind such appointments and it is obvious that you cannot broadcast everything without any financial contribution. Until recently, however, prices were kept secret but the organization behind the German event has decided (we don’t know if by mistake or not) to leave the price list on its official website in plain sight. And the classic Pandora’s box has obviously opened.
Let’s start immediately with how everything works: to participate in Gamescom 2022 and be present in the two hours of show that will lead Geoff Keighley, you have to pay. Or rather, not everyone pays: it is in fact a false truth. Most of the relief material is completely free: the triple A game, for example, will be shown for free, perhaps thanks to a much more substantial sponsorship for the fair itself by its publisher. The money is therefore asked to smaller developers and who have no agreements, but are still in the minority compared to those who avoid payment.
Yes, but in figures, how much does it cost to participate in the Opening Night Live 2022 of the event? Much. To have 30 seconds of space, 85,000 euros are needed, while for the 60 seconds it will be necessary to have 125,000 euros available. One minute and thirty, on the other hand, are worth a good 165,000 Euros. This should also apply to other types of commercials, but we’re not sure. The figures nevertheless make an impression and prove it to us as in reality in the video game industry, nothing is really free.
Gamescom 2022 will be held in late August, but on the contents present sewn mouths. However, we will hardly see any very important announcements, even if obviously the last minute surprises could always prove us wrong. Keep following Tom’s Hardware for all the news and announcements in the pipeline from the world of video games.
