Tesla is changing the system by which it calculates the range for its electric cars. For a long time, the stated value depended more or less only on the battery capacity, now the automaker will start including tire pressure, air conditioning, heating and several other factors in the calculation. The information was brought by the server Electrek.
It is practically impossible to calculate the exact range, whether the vehicle runs on batteries, petrol or diesel. Paradoxically, however, this is one of the most essential properties.
Tesla is the market leader in the efficiency and range of modern electric cars. He is constantly looking for new ways to increase the stated value as much as possible and at the same time not confuse his customers.
Now she has found one such way, although it may not fall on fertile ground for her. However, it will definitely increase customer confidencewhich is one of the basic building blocks of perhaps every business.
Back in 2018, the automaker added so-called environmental factors to its calculations, under which you can adjust, for example, weather or altitude. That helped, but not enough. More than once it happened to Tesla owners (and practically still happens) that after arriving at the destination, the battery level was much lower than the initial assumption of the navigation system.
At the beginning of this year, it enriched the calculation system with other factors, namely the strength of the side wind and headwind or air humidity. And now, a little over half a year later, he is enriching it again.
Tesla will now also include in the range calculation tire pressure, heating, air conditioning or even charging a smartphone while driving. However, the car company has not officially confirmed it yet. The information comes from a verified informant posing as green.
The change is expected to come as part of the 2022.20.7 software update.
