
An extended trailer of House of the Dragon was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, a new television project linked to the Game of Thrones franchise: it will be set 200 years before the events narrated in the main series andthe House of Targaryen will be the protagonist, ready for war to ascend the throne.

The clip is identical to the one released last week, but it has some minor changesi: The moments in which the young Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower appear, while King Viserys is intent on talking to someone in a threatening tone, stating that the Throne of Swords brings only misfortune and is the most dangerous place in the whole kingdom. Based on the George Martin novel Fire and Bloodthe series will follow the Dance of Dragons, the Targaryen civil war between brothers Aegon II and Rhaenyra, who fought for the throne after the death of their father Viserys I.
House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole.
House of the Dragon will debut exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW il August 22, simultaneously with the airing in the United States on HBO Max. One episode per week will be available. The first season will make use of several time hops, as announced by co-showrunner Ryan Condal, to better immerse viewers in the story. It is in fact a generational war and telling the evolution of the characters from the beginning will be fundamental for the narrative structure set.
