The tensions between Elves and humans in The Rings of Power
During an interview with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Tyroe Muhafidin revealed some new details about The Rings of Power and his character: Theo. The actor talked about the conflict between Elves and humans during the Second Age and how Theo’s lineage defines his place in the world. Below you can read his words:
He is not happy. Thousands of years earlier, Theo’s ancestors sided with Morgoth and fought against the elves. Thus, as punishment for what they had done, they were banished and had to start living again in the “slums” of the South Lands, an area patrolled by the Elves. You know, it happened many generations ago, and I, like Theo and Bronwyn, think the whole village thinks it’s time to get over this story and move on, but the Elves don’t forget. So there’s a lot of tension in there, especially when your mom is dating one of them.
To better understand the statement of Tyroe Muhafidin on the tensions between Elves and humans ne The Rings of Powerlet’s focus on the village the actor refers to, Tirharad, located in the Southern Lands and populated by the descendants of the humans who sided with Morgoth during the War of Wrath and fought against the Elves. In the village, men live in exile under the close surveillance of the Elves, which in the long run has worsened relations between the two races. While the inhabitants of Tirharad – Bronwyn and Theo among others – wish to get away from the mistakes of the past, the stubbornness of the Elves prevents them from forgetting these transgressions that occurred many generations ago.
