No doubt WhatsApp is one of the most useful applications of the moment. After the confinement order, many businesses chose to move their commercial actions to an online version and WhatsApp became the preferred platform. It allows us to stay in touch with friends, clients, colleagues and anyone who has a smartphone.
In turn, it puts within our reach several communication tools such as video calls, text messages, photos, videos, stickers, GIFS and audio messages. All this in an encryption system that protects the content sent.
The WhatsApp web portal always warns that there is an “end-to-end” data encryption system, which means that all the content you send through a chat is encrypted to prevent hacking or theft of your information.
The only way for someone to know what is being written in a chat is to have some of the terminals or steal a person’s account. External programs cannot be used to steal information from a chat.
To this layer of security, WhatsApp will add new elements to improve the privacy of accounts and chats. Through social networks they shared the following updates.
- Online presence: choose who can see your “online” status (from only some contacts to all). You have the power to decide.
- Screenshot protection: Coming soon, when you send videos or photos with the ‘see once’ system, the content of the screenshots will be protected.
- Leave groups silently: you will be able to leave a chat without leaving a trace. Only the administrators will have knowledge of the case.
Your privacy deserves more protection.
That’s why we’re excited to announce three 🆕 layers of security to wrap your messages in.
