With one of the oldest version in recent memory, will Android 13 rush to arrive on your device?
Android 13 may not be as big an update blockbuster as Android 12 was. Still, it should bring a much-needed wave of consistency and refinement to last year’s latest elements, while also offering hair-raising behind-the-scenes changes for app developers. Whether you have your arms open or ready for impact, we’re working on the answer to when your phone or tablet will get Android 13.
ANDROIDpolice video of the day
Starting August 1, we’re still waiting for Google to deliver stable Android 13 images to our Pixel phones, as well as normal images and updates to the Android open source project repository. Other Android makers will be responsible for adopting the new software for their devices, which will take at least a few months. We will update this article with target dates as they are announced and links to relevant information.
In this early draft of the list, we focus on brands and devices generally available in North America.
Asus
This Taiwanese tech brand offers beta programs for testers eager to try out new Android versions, but it’s not too early to roll them out to the rest of the user base.

motorola
The manufacturer, once a Google asset, has fallen from grace in the software department, owned by Lenovo. It will typically last with two OS updates and two years of security patches for flagships, and possibly an OS bump for other devices.

Nokia
This is another dropped star in terms of Android updates. Of late in memory, it had to delay the Android 10 and 11 rollout for some devices. For Android 12, only one device on record was promised OTA. We have no hope here.

OnePlus (Global)
Oppo-owned OnePlus has been slow in rolling out Android Pulse in its phones. Part of this is a function of the recent codebase merger between OxygenOS and ColorOS. Granted, things should be more efficient once the developer teams settle in. We are crossing our fingers.

samsung
The world’s largest Android phone maker has stepped up its software update commitments over the years. More devices are getting more OS updates and more security updates in the long run. The company is planning four OS updates and five years of security patches for its 2022 release.
Android 13 will be paired with One UI 5.0 on the Galaxy device. We expect the most recent release to get an update only a few months after Google’s stable release.

it might be time to update
As we update this list, we may modify our scope to cover OEMs in other regions and their device portfolios specific to those regions. For now, we’re waiting for Google to fire that starting gun by re-releasing still images for its supported Pixel devices. If you don’t see your device on our list, don’t worry; We should learn a lot about the manufacturer roadmap once Android 13 is released. If you have an older phone or know you can’t get the Android 13 update, it might be time to upgrade to one of the best Android phones out there.
