- Xiaomi has released the first MIUI 13.1 developer build for its latest flagship phone based on Android 13.
- Currently, only Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro models enrolled in MIUI’s beta program are eligible for the update.
- Builds are apparently based on Android 13 beta 3, so its app-facing surface and behavior should last.
Following the release of the final Android 13 beta, Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 12 developer builds based on Android 13 to Xiaomi 13.1 and Xiaomi 12 Pro in China.
The best Android phones from Xiaomi enrolled in the MIUI beta program are now taking the V13.1.22.7.28.DEV version. According to the Adimora blog (opens in new tab), the size of the update is 5.20GB and is based on Android 13 beta 3. This means that MIUI 13.1 coming to Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro is likely to include the final app- facing surfaces and behaviours.
Google rolled out the third Android 13 beta in June, focusing on platform stability and finishing touches ahead of a stable release. Last month, Google rolled out the fourth and final Android 13 beta, which included a release candidate build of the operating system, for Pixel phones.
Xiaomi is yet to confirm the availability of MIUI 13.1 on its most recent flagship device. However, Xiaomiui (opens in new tab) claims that the Xiaomi 12 series has started receiving the Android 13 update on its home turf. This suggests that the company is getting closer to releasing MIUI 14, although it will not be available on eligible devices until the release of the Xiaomi 14 series.
The MIUI 13.1 rollout comes after Xiaomi started recruiting testers (opens in new tab) for the MIUI beta version based on Android 13 early last month. That said, the beta test was for the global versions of the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
Xiaomi 12 Pro
The Xiaomi 12 Pro features an attractive design, high-quality internal hardware, a stunning 120Hz AMOLED screen with quad speakers, and 120W wired / 50W wireless charging. The trio of 50MP cameras on the back take great pictures in any conditions, and while there is no IP68 rating, the Xiaomi 12 Pro does better in several key areas.
